THE DRIFT TRILOGY
The Drift was first born in 2019…
Starting out as a concept for what could happen to those whose lives are taken away having barely been lived. Wouldn’t it be interesting to know what each and every one of them would go on to achieve had they continued living? Maybe they’d change the world. Maybe they’d end up saving your life. Or maybe they’d be the friendly face serving you in your local coffee shop every week.
From that idea, came Merging The Drift, my debut novel, released in late-2020 - a contemporary, speculative and supernatural thriller, following four main characters all coming to terms with this very concept and what it means for family, relationships and memories of the past.
Originally intended as a standalone novel, there was still so much to explore with these characters and their backgrounds, so Merging The Drift evolved into a trilogy, with the equally speculative and supernatural Closing The Drift released in early 2022 and Leaving The Drift currently nearing completion for a late-2023 release.
I hope you enjoy the series as much as I enjoyed crafting the characters and this whole fresh take on the afterlife.
Merging The Drift
On the morning of his 18th birthday Ali woke up to his family home unusually silent, and deserted. He soon learns that he never lived the childhood he remembers and all his memories up until that point are fake. He is now alone, and an occupant of the Drift, an entity where deceased children coexist as their adult selves, with the ability to view a parallel version of their being in a separate, fictional world, without any influence or control over this life path.
Almost three years on, Ali has settled into a routine, but events from the real world he was taken from as a child begin to impact on the limits of his existence as he develops a strange connection with a fellow occupant seeking an unprecedented truth that surfaces a disturbing past and will forever bind together multiple souls.
Follow Ali and three others over the course of a mind-bending week as each seeks comfort and answers from their existence.
Closing The Drift
Two years on from MERGING THE DRIFT and the events that brought them together, Ali, Danny, Kerri and Kitty remain in contact and existing in comfort, unaware that past incidents believed to be forgotten have only been dormant and planning the right time to strike.
As the countdown is on to the birth of Danny’s first child, worlds will once again have their limitations distorted by an unprecedented, vengeful power of the Drift that threatens to forever sever the ties between life and death, with more at stake than any of the four can possibly imagine.
Kerri always suspected she wasn’t the only one who possessed unparalleled abilities.
Leaving The Drift
After a few years of growing distant from the close group they once were, Danny, Ali, Kerri and Kitty find their existences intersecting once again when each faces up to unprecedented situations where all is far from what it seems.
In this epic conclusion to the Drift trilogy, family ties, loyalties and future plans will be tested like never before and settled no matter how much deception or death is required, even if it means leaving certain people, memories and worlds behind forever.
